Edible Classrooms are sustainable learning gardens where students are excited and engaged in their education

“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." -- Benjamin Franklin

Studies show that children who spend time in the garden learn better, get physical activity and behave better in the classroom. (Henderson et all - 2011).

Students are involved in every step of creating their edible classroom. Choosing what is grown, setting up the container garden, starting seeds and planting seedlings, maintaining, irrigating and finally harvesting and eating their produce.

Bowery has been building edible classrooms since 2015.
